Chattanooga MedComm
In 1998, Erlanger's
Life Force Communications Center became a Regional Communications
Center (RCC) known as Chattanooga MedComm. The
State of Tennessee designated it as the EMS Regional
Communications Center for Southeast Tennessee (Region 3).
Chattanooga MedComm is a contact and routing point
for all emergency medical ambulance to hospital radio communications for destination
hospitals in Hamilton County, Tennessee. The State's
Emergency Medical Services Office
will provide oversight for Chattanooga MedComm and the program's personnel will monitor
area patient transports based on guidelines and protocols established by the Tennessee
Board. The center will also coordinate ambulance transports during any disaster situation
in the southeast region.
MedComm Scope
MedComm is designed to be utilized by any
ambulance, ground or air medical, that transports patients to a Chattanooga area hospital Emergency Department.
These hospitals include the following:
- Erlanger Medical Center
- Erlanger Medical Center - North
- Memorial Hospital
- Memorial - North Park Hospital
- Parkridge Medical Center
- Parkridge-East Medical
Center
- T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital
Regional EMS System
A
multi-county system
comprised of all hospitals, ambulance services, dispatch centers
and related entities that functions as an interactive emergency
health care network coordinated through a regional medical
communications center (RMCC) for the purposes of providing medical
information and coordinating patient movement and medical
resources.
Regional Medical
Communications Center (RMCC)
An RMCC is a state
designated communications entity with a regional mission and focus
that coordinates hospitals, ambulance services and other medical
resources in real time, to optimize emergency patient care in
situations where local governments and health care providers
request assistance. RMCCs are authorized by TCA
68-140-201-208 and EMS Board rules 1200-12-1-08.
