LIFE
FORCE OUTREACH AND EDUCATION
A variety of
continuing education classes are offered by LIFE FORCE to support
our personnel and associated agencies and
facilities. Many resources are available, on and off campus, to
provide a wide spectrum of topics to physicians, nurses,
paramedics, EMTs and First Responders.
Scene-Team Training
The LIFE FORCE
Scene-Team Training is a 2-3 hour presentation
held at your
location that covers the following topics:
- Introduction
of LIFE FORCE and it’s mission
statement and values.
- The history
and evolution of the LIFE FORCE Air Medical program
- LIFE FORCE’s
capabilities and crew configuration.
- How to request
LIFE FORCE and interacting with the Communications Center.
- How to set up
a landing zone for LIFE FORCE, with emphasis on safety.
- How to prepare
a patient for transport on a LIFE FORCE helicopter.
- Special
considerations and situations.
- Conclusion,
with questions and answer session.
After the
classroom session, there will be a tour of the helicopter at your
location (pending availability and weather).
The Scene Team
training is approved for two hours of continuing education and
certificates are presented to all who attend.

Special Observer Program
(Ride-Along)
The LIFE
FORCE Special Observer Program allows
providers in our service area the opportunity to experience
first-hand our operations by flying along with the
flight crew.
Applications will be accepted for EMS, ER,
ICU and public safety communications
personnel.
This program will run from October through April during the
hours of 0900 to 2100 hours.
The following are
requirements for Special Observers:

You must be 18 years of age or older
-
You must be an EMT, EMT-P, RN, or MD from
a LIFE FORCE service area is are currently working in EMS, ER,
or ICU; Public Safety Communicators.

No propensity for motion sickness,
claustrophobia or vertigo.
-
You must attend a of Special Observer
Orientation program.
-
Due to aircraft configuration, there
is a maximum weight limit of 230 lbs
Orientation classes
are required prior to the ride-along period. The classes will be
held periodically. For more information contact

Communications Class
The LIFE
FORCE Communicators and Dispatch Class is designed
to acquaint individuals who usually make the initial request for
air medical transport with information on activation, navigation,
radio and weather, as well as other information concerning the
air-medical industry.
Objectives of this class are for the participant to:

Become
familiar with the
functions of the Communications Center at LIFE FORCE.
-
Become familiar with the resources available to your
agency from LIFE FORCE.
-
Have an understanding of the
activation process of LIFE FORCE.
-
Have
an understanding of the navigational process and the tools that are utilized
to locate a landing zone (LZ).
-
Become familiar with radio
frequencies that can be utilized by the flight crew for
communications with EMS and the LZ Commander.
-
Have
an understanding of the weather conditions that affect the flight of LIFE FORCE
and “Instrument Flight Rules” pertaining to the ability of flight
in less-than-desirable
conditions.
-
Be able to identify other hazardous conditions that may
affect the safety of the aircraft,
flight crew and ground personnel.

Special Events Requests
In
addition to educational events, LIFE FORCE is also available for
special events in the community, as well as scheduled base visits.
Some of the events LIFE FORCE is available for are: EMS
appreciation days, conferences, holiday celebrations, fly-ins,
etc.
